Star Parties at UNC Charlotte

The Department of Physics, Society of Physics Students, and the Charlotte Amateur Astronomers Club host public viewing sessions at the UNC Charlotte campus observatory approximately every other month during the school year. Several telescopes are made available for viewing the Moon, planets, and other objects. The event is free and open to the public. Please note that these events are outdoors - if it is cool you will need a coat. The star parties will not be held if the skies are cloudy, they will be rescheduled.

The observatory is located on the UNC Charlotte campus (located in block C1 on the campus map) near the track and field comlex (#50 on the campus map). Signs will be posted on Highway 49 directing visitors to parking and the observatory. For more information please contact the Physics Department at 704-687-2536.

Upcoming Star Parties:

The next Star Party is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2003 from 10:00 p.m. until midnight. This is a special star party to view the total lunar eclipse that will happen that evening.
